Youth Groups Help Produce National Child Abuse Prevention Month Program

“It’s such a special experience to come together as a club and be making things happen for kids who are not as fortunate as we are”explains 17 year old Austen Alsey, a senior at Bella Vista High School who is hard at work on National Child Abuse Prevention Month activities along with many other Kiwanis International Key Club members. Key Clubs are sponsored and supported by Kiwania Clubs around the world in order to involved young people in civic leadership, and empower them to take a positive-proactive roll in their own communities.

“Austen like so many of our Key Club members has really thrived through these efforts, and is very excited about helping to produce National Child Abuse Prevention Month opening ceremonies for the 50 state campaign, which are being held in Sacramento “explains Key Club Adviser Max Woodford of Citrus Heights who over sees three Kiwanis Key Clubs in the region.”Austen is even “Kid Korispondant” for the Angels On Air International Radio Show each Sunday morning 7:30 A.M. PST on Blog Talk offering his perspective on topics which speak to protecting his peers and strengthening society “Woodford went on to say.

Kiwanis Clubs like the Citrus Heights group Woodford belongs to partner with organizations like Army Of Angels,an international coalition of child advocates to offer Key Club members ample opportunities to be involved. Close to 43% of Army Of Angels volunteers are under the age of 18, allowing young people an opportunity to achieve adult like accomplishments for the betterment of society.

More than a dozen Kiwanis Key Clubs are expected to be involved in the 50 state National Child Abuse Prevention Moth opening ceremonies in Sacramento with many others participating from coast to coast, supporting Kross Kountry-4-Kids A Journey-4-Justice, the two week Caravan Of Hope which travels from Washinton D.C. and back carrying with it the Army Of Angels Mobilizing America Quilt Project. “When you tackle projects like this and can make such meaningful things happen, you know that you can accomplish anything” Alsey concludes with a smile.
