Sacramento sheriff's dept. issues plea
SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA - The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department says its dispatchers were being overwhelmed with 911 calls from people "inconvenienced" by the weather.
Sgt. Jason Ramos said they're receiving calls to have sandbags brought to residents, provide transportation and other situations that are not emergencies.
The sheriff's department recommends if residents need to seek refuge other than their homes during the storm, they should take water, some clothes and basic first-air supplies and leave.
