Sacramento-Area Restaurants Open for Thanksgiving

For some, Thanksgiving tradition is cooking up turkey with all the yummy fixins. For others, it’s letting someone else do the work and enjoying their Thanksgiving feast at a restaurant. My family has gone the restaurant route a time or two, and I actually liked it quite a bit. You’ll often find many more side dishes and desserts to choose from, and my personal favorite, no dishes to clean!

I've been in North Highlands a lot lately and tried this taqueria. I got three tacos for $1.90 a pop. Dang! They were good but I'm not going to pay that much for the smaller sized, taco truck tacos. I'll just hit up a truck next time and save a couple of bucks.

If you're there I recommend the Al Pastor.

Firehouse Announces Facebook Fundraiser

The Firehouse has partnered with the Sacramento Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for a very special Facebook fundraiser! From April 9-13, the Sacramento SPCA will receive a $1 donation from The Firehouse for every new “like” the restaurant receives on its Facebook page.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day at Sacramento’s “Best Romantic Restaurant”

This February 14, the restaurant will serve an exquisite five-course Valentine’s Day menu, as well as a delicious five-course vegetarian/vegan menu.

Great place for Fish & Chips in Carmichael

If you are looking for great Fish & Chips, the Carmichael Tugboat Fish & Chips should be on your list of restaurants. Located at the corner of Fair Oaks Boulevard and Wayside Lane just east of the Fair Oaks Boulevard/Manzanita Avenue split, behind Rite Aid. The menu includes great deep fried cod, shrimp, prawns, oysters, clams, scallops and chicken filets. My personal favorite is the Seafood Sampler, a mix of cod, prawns, oysters, and scallops, served on a bed of french fries. The onion rings are amazing, as are the deep fried vegetables. There is limited seating inside the old drive in hamburger stand, but there is plenty of seating on the covered patio outside.
